I was actually applauding by the end; that whole documentary skit was classic. A bit on the long side though; that's not a bad thing, but a scene select would be the icing on the cake for this.

Ok, this isn't half bad...
After watching all of the shorts (easter egg too), I feel like I can say that this comes across as a sort of underdog collab. Overall, I found the humor to be OK. I laughed at all of them. The art was varied in quality as is to be expected with these kinds of collabs. None of it was so bad that it was a turn off. Out of all of them, I found Pot Head to be the worst, but it wasn't all bad. The sword could have been drawn much worse. I think this collab came out ok.

Pardon the pun, but...
Stellar animation! Those backgrounds were amazing! I didn't actually realize he was dreaming until the end. I didn't notice the Space Captain Atmos or whoever that is on the blanket till the end.
You captured the magic of xmas and put it in a flash. Well done!

This is the kind of quality I hope to achieve 1day
It's so fluid; one thing to another. A constant transformation. Just incredible technical and creative prowess. I need to look closer and see how you made this. I see lots of FBF and some tweening (maybe it's hard to tell). And the scene with the water color lokking style. What software do you use?
thanks!
it's just flash with a couple of movieclip filters. The textured backgrounds were made in photoshop. It's Flash MX, by the way. I personally find very little use in newer versions.
The plot thickens...
I felt this went by a bit too fast, but I like the fact that the terminals can be read easier without needing to pause. Might be just me but it seems like this particular entry into the series was a bit less bloody than the others. Then again, this mission had the cold, hard efficiency of pro mercs as opposed to the more chaotic and flashiness present in the main series with Hank.
BTW, I really like how you put all those little tiny text easter eggs all over the place. They really help add some grittiness and detail (and the occasional humor) to an otherwise simple world, making it look much more complex than it really is, from a geometric point of view that is.
Madness Day 2012 is goin' to rockin!
That was surreal!
This left me asking myself "that was done in flash?!" I almost can't believe it is all flash. I could have sworn some of it had to be 3d assisted or something. Second viewing, I realize "nope. just flash."
I just I just picked up flash a few days ago and am trying to improve my drawing skill, which was zilch a couple weeks ago. This has motivated me to get better even more. If you have a buddy that's into flash, but is losing motivation or reason to improve, you should give him this link.
Incredible!
Interesting story
The way I interpret the story, fire is humanity's "burning" passion for love, ability to destroy and capacity for vengeance, and power; water is our kindness, gentleness, but also our frailty. The machine tower represents our technology (specifically war) and shows us how frail we are. At the end, it shows a person being formed out of all 3 things. So I suppose it could be said based on this analysis, such that the ancient saying goes "water cannot exist without fire", we cannot exist without those 3 things. They are not necessarily good or evil, but apart of who we are.
At least that's what I see in this.
Awesome stuff!
I really like your style and your animation. I wish beating Roy (our whoever that Fire Emblem character was) was that easy. Captain Falcon always seems to have a reach problem against swords, at least for me anyway in 1v1. I hadn't seen this until I noticed the cameo in Dead Space Fail.
Mega Hank kicks ass!
But I guess it isn't as smart as he used to be, with that process thingy that happened to him in MC9 didn't restore his brain as well as it could have. Here are some examples: the scene where hank is ripping open the bars, i expected him to use it as a javelin or some kind of spear/staff. And when he grabbed the halo, I thought he would try to break it (maybe unbreakable? future plot? ...?). And finally when he grabbed the machine gun, I thought he was going to dual weid and I was like OMG but then he didn't and I was like aww. But I suppose he isn't THAT strong. But when I saw it fired that more than made up for it. Didn't quite expect the ending.
But I suppose if Hank had done all this he would have been too overpowered and looked too much like the tribute flashes and made him seem a bit vulnerable, like any realistic hero ought to be. And this all comes down to creative preference.
Madness FTW 4ever!
I am an appreciator of all things creative. Creative Weapons of choice: Modplug/OpenMPT, a Casio CTK-558, and all the free VST's I can get my hands on.
